Our latest guest is Professor John Flint from the School of Geography and Planning. John was appointed Deputy VP for Research at Sheffield in 2022.
John was brought up in South Queensferry, on the outskirts of Edinburgh. He went to Glasgow University being awarded an MA in Politics in 1994, he followed this with a PGCE and work as a secondary school teacher in Edinburgh.
He returned to Glasgow for a Masters in Urban Policy, where also he lectured part-time in HM Prison, Saughton.
John was an RA at the Universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow before becoming a lecturer in Housing Studies at the University of Glasgow, all of this whilst pursuing a career as a stand-up comedian. He joined Sheffield Hallam in 2005 and was appointed Professor in 2007.
In 2011 he moved to the University of Sheffield as Professor of Town and Regional Planning.
