Programming the 'Albert Hall of the North'
Recording of the third 'Morecambe Winter Gardens Community Conversations' event
In 2024 the Morecambe Winter Gardens Preservation Trust hosted a series of events to provide an opportunity for the community to discover more about the ongoing work at the Winter Gardens building, hear from leading figures from the arts, culture, regeneration and tourism sectors, and learn more about the plans for the landmark venue.
In the third Community Conversation event, Professor Vanessa Toulmin, Chair of Morecambe Winter Gardens Preservation Trust, was joined by Matt Panesh and Andy Smith to discuss programming the Morecambe Winter Gardens – and what events and acts audiences can expect to see in the venue in the future.
About the Winter Gardens
Opened as the Victoria Pavillion in 1897, the Winter Gardens is a Grade II* listed variety, theatre and concert hall in the heart of Morecambe. The building was saved from demolition by the people of Morecambe in 1985 and is now run by the Morecambe Winter Gardens Preservation Trust - a volunteer-led, charitable organisation who are writing a new chapter and restoring this magical place to its former glory.
