In this public lecture, Sir Paul Nurse discusses how the three great ideas of biology - the gene theory, the theory of evolution, and the proposal that the cell is the fundamental unit of all life - have influenced and changed the way we think of science today.
Sir Paul Nurse was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2001, and until 30th November 2015 was the President of the Royal Society.
