AI Research at the Centre for Machine Intelligence
Hear from researchers in the Centre for Machine Intelligence, as they describe how they are advancing the forefront of research into AI, its applications, and its impact on society.
Learn about research into AI within the Centre for Machine Intelligence (CMI), directly from its expert researchers.
The work of the CMI is divided into four key themes, and one cross-cutting strand: Human-Centric AI studies the impacts of AI on society, with a particular focus on inequality. Robotics and Autonomous Systems studies the use of AI technologies in robotic applications.
AI for Engineering and Manufacturing seeks to apply AI in these disciplines, with a particular focus on materials. AI-Enabled Research develops the underpinning AI technologies that can be applied in diverse research disciplines, with a particular focus on healthcare, and works closely with AI Research Engineering, where cutting edge open-source AI tools are developed and applied.
Together, this unique combination of research strengths in AI defines Sheffield’s contribution to the national and international landscape.
